Halloween Book

This is my latest for the Halloween collection. I made a book with a little house inside. Let's go straight to the photos.

People at work have been saving cardboard for me so I can make these little houses. One box they saved looked like a book to me so I decided to turn it into a book. I embossed some paper for the cover, figured out how to make a hinge and decorated the inside with a little scene. I love this little house. I colored some plastic sheets with red magic markers to give the house an eerie glow. There is a small hole in the back of the book to insert a light from a string of lights. The clock is a 13-hour clock that I found on the internet and shrunk down to a good size for the house.

Here is a summary of the materials I used to make this project:

House pattern - drafted on my own
Windows - plastic packing material colored with a red magic marker
Window frames - die cut from Elizabeth Craft Designs Holiday House Windows
Door - drawn by me, hand cut, window shows a skull from one my scrapbook papers. Tiny brad for the door knob
Pumpkins - made with Sculpey clay
Fence - La La Land Frightful Fence Die
Graveyard scene - Tim Holtz Graveyard die
Spooky tree - Tim Holtz Branch Tree Bigz Die ( I think this is retired, but you can still find it at times)
Various bats - EK Success, Martha Stewart punches
Witch - Taylors Expressions Little Bits Witch Die - this is the best little witch die I've seen
Trick or Treat kids - Tim Holtz Halloween Shadows Die
Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Paints
Colored Cardstock for the background
Mod Podge to seal everything
Page edges were made by scoring the paper, dipping it in tea and drying it in the oven.
Embossing for the cover - Spellbinder Bossabilities 3-D European Tapestry and Teresa Collins Damask
Cover paints - black acrylic paint, then Valspar Gold Metal and Patina Glaze

I think the Halloween House book looks better in person than in photos. This one was hard to shoot because of the size. A coworker has already claimed this one.

  2. I haven't named the book yet. I am trying to come up with something clever, but it has eluded me so far.
