Like Sands through an Hourglass...

I had to think of a project for this month's Creative Carte Blanche Challenge "Numbers". On the post where the challenge was outlined, there is a photo of lovely old numbers in type so I used that as a jumping off point for my project. Then I thought of using an hourglass with numbers in it which I made like a shaker card.

I also will enter this in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge "Make Your Own Background".

It's a little busy, but I had fun with all the elements. Do you see the numbers on wooden blocks as typesetting blocks? I realize that type for typesetting is backwards - a fact I decided to ignore. My hourglass is a little funky as it is the first shaker type adornment I've ever made. It was complicated by the fact that I had to draw it and cut it out by hand.

I made layers and layers of backgrounds, first corrugated cardboard distressed with Black Soot paint, gold paint and texture paste. The ruler is a Sizzix texture fade as is the wooden background, the clocks and the numbers. I just got the numbers texture fade today - perfect timing. The white background is a Tim Holtz stencil with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide. I found a number of Idea-ology pieces that worked well with my number and time concept. My favorite is the little knob with a black chain and "Cherish" "Moments" tokens hanging on the chain.

I basically saturated the piece with numbers. Here a few more photos.

Layers and layers of backgrounds.

My favorite embellishment - Cherish Moments.

So I will share this project with  2 challenges - Creative Carte Blanche and Simon Says Stamp.

Oh, if you read my previous post, I was able to finish today because Jerry, my cat, decided to sleep on  freshly washed clothes instead of the craft table. Good choice, Jerry.

  4. What an absolutely clever card! I really love how much texture you incorporated into this card. All the different panels work together so beautifully. And the way you built the shaker component was so creative! This was a joy to see and I'm so glad you shared this with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
